THE Wivey Show returns to The Rec, in Wiveliscombe, from 12 pm to 5 pm on August 17, with all classes free to enter this year.

The show has grown over recent years and is expected to increase again this year with more than 200 classes available to enter.

The website www.wiveyshow.co.uk has been improved and entries can be made online until August 10.

The committee analyses which classes are popular and those needing a refresh, and in a significant change this year all classes will be free to enter.

Show chairman Kirsty Boutflower said: “We have decided to trial it for a year and see how well it is received.

“It became quite a balancing act with the entry money not covering the prize money so we have removed both although winners will still get certificates and cups.”

Last year saw large numbers attend and she hoped many who did not enter any classes might be inspired to have a go this time.

She said: “The show is an important part of the community and after making a decent amount last year, we were able to give money back into the town in the form of donations to The Rec, St Andrew’s Church, and 10 Radio.”
