WESTERN Storm returned to the Cooper Associates County Ground at Taunton in some style when they beat table toppers South East Stars in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Chasing a total of 244 for victory in a rain reduced match the hosts had reached 236 for five in their chase when the weather again closed in to force a premature conclusion, the home side winning by eight runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Method. Their impressive victory was down to half centuries from Storm captain Sophie Luff  and Fran Wilson and 40 not out from Nat Wraith. After being asked to bat first the visitors posted 298 for five from their 44 overs with local player Niamh Holland claiming two of the wickets. The Storm reply didn’t start too well as they found themselves 10 for two in the sixth over but then Luff and Wilson came together and added 131 in just shy of 20 overs. Needing 74 off the last 10 overs, the partnership between Wraith and Holland had yielded 44 runs when the rain arrived, with the score on 236 for five after which there was no further play and Storm won by eight runs ( DLS method).
