Police closed the A39 at Williton on Saturday morning after a car ended up in a ditch on a stretch of road affected by flooding.

Avon and Somerset Police reported the closure after a night of heavy rain caused flooding across West Somerset.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A man attempting to drive his car through floodwater on the A39 at Williton got into difficulty earlier & his vehicle is now in a ditch."

There were reports on social media that the road was closed between Gliddons Cross and the Tropiquaria roundabout.
