ALCOMBE Tandoori Restaurant has been crowned Restaurant of the Year - South West, at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards 2022.

The awards are the largest celebration of Britain’s Asian restaurants and takeaway industry - held at London’s InterContinental Hotel recently.

The awards are in recognition of the UK’s best South Asian cuisine across a series of regional and national categories. Finalists, picked from over 2,300 restaurants, were nominated by 700,000 food lovers.

The Alcombe restaurant has won several major awards since it opened in 1996.

A spokesman for the awards said that the UK’s curry industry contributed £5 billion a year and there were more Indian restaurants in Greater London than in Delhi and Mumbai combined, Salik Mohammed Munim, founder of the ARTA awards, said: “I am truly blown away by the standards set by the competition and I can confidently assert that Asian culinary industry in Britain is in safe hands. Every nominee and winner should be proud of their work.”
