A number of roads are set to be closed across West Somerset. The temporary closures are being put in place so works can be carried out. The full list of closures follows.
There will be a temporary closure of Monks Path in the parish of Old Cleave. In accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the County Council has ordered a road closure along Monks Path. The closure will start 25 metres north west of the junction with Church Lane, and continue north westwards for a total distance of 40 metres. Works are expected to last for 5 days commencing on February 6 with a scheduled completion date of February 10.
There will be a temporary closure of Carhampton Road and Blue Anchor Road in the parish of Carhampton. All traffic will be blocked from the junction with Grove Road in a northerly direction for a total distance of 830 metres. The order will enable Openreach to carry out the underground transfer of plant works. Works are expected to commence on January 24 and be completed on the same day.
In the parishes of Clatworthy and Brompton Ralph traffic will be blocked from travelling along Forches Cross to Brompton Ralph – from the junction with Forches Cross to Holcombe Water eastwards for a total distance of 671 metres. The closure will remain in force from January 23 lasting until January 27 while Openreach install fibre cabling.
In the parish of Brompton Ralph there will be a road closure affecting Shurtland Lane and Brompton Ralph to Glebe Farm. The County Council has ordered the road closure to enable Openreach to carry out cable installation. The works will commence February 9 and last until February 15. Works will take place between 8am and 6pm.
There is set to be a temporary closure of Perry New Road in the parishes of Dulverton and Brushford this month. Traffic will be blocked from travelling along Perry New Road – from the junction with Station Road to the junction with Road North from Snapbox Cross. The closure will span a distance of 1197 metres. Works will commence January 24 with completion scheduled for February 1. Works will take place between 8am and 6pm.
Chitcombe Rocks Lane in the parish of Huish Champflower will be temporarily closed next month. Traffic will be prevented from travelling along Chitcombe Rocks Lane – from 165 metres north of the junction with Middleton Lane, northwards for a distance of 362 metres. Works will commence on February 7 at 9 30 am and should be completed by 3 30pm on the same day.
In the parish of Minehead there is set to be road closure along Townsend Road. The closure will begin at property number 54 and extend in an easterly direction for a total distance of 5 metres. The works are set to begin on January 23 at 9 30am and conclude at 3 30pm on the same day. The council advises there is no alternate route for this closure and that the works promoter will contact residents and businesses to discuss access arrangements.
There will be a temporary closure of Marshfield Road and of vehicular access of Bircham Road in the Parish of Minehead. Traffic will be blocked from vehicular access off Bircham Road – from 190 metres northwards from the junction with Bircham Road for a further 50 metres; and Marshfield Road from the junction of Lower Marshfield Road southwards for 50 metres. The works will last between February 3 and February 10 as Wessex Water carry out investigative work.
Somerset County Council is set to introduce a temporary 10mph speed limit in some areas across the parishes of Exford, Cutcombe and Minehead. The limit is in place while works are carried out to overhead and underground cables. The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Roads affected are: B3224 Church Hill Minehead, B3224 Exford to Wheddon Cross Road, B3224 Tabbitts Steep, Minehead.
