A SECTION of the England Coast Path has been temporarily closed following a rock fall near Home Farm at St Audries Bay.
As reported last week, around 200 tons of cliffside broke away just before the new year, taking away stone walling and an earth bank.
Although the track down to the beach used by coast path walkers was still passable, emergency fencing and warning notices were put up.
Now Somerset County Council has temporarily closed the path and put an inland alternative in place.
A spokesman said the council was working with the Home Farm landowners where the track goes, as well as Natural England, to agree a new route as soon as possible.
The inland alternative will follow other footpaths and part of the West Somerset Coast Path between Doniford and East Quantoxhead.
