A CHARITY in memory of teenager Bethany Paige Adams and dedicated to making young people safer drivers is £525 better off.
And it is thanks to a fund-raising campaign organised by 17-year-old Bethany’s cousin.
Ella Dimambro and her boyfriend Ollie Claydon raised the money by making and selling model reindeer for £15 each in aid of Stand Against Speed 4 Bethany.
The charity, run by Bethany’s mother Helen, uses sessions on a go-kart track to help youngsters drive more safely and responsibly.
Bethany died in 2012 in a car driven by a 17-year-old who had just passed his test. The driver lost control at high speed on the A358 and Bethany was killed when the car hit a tree at the bottom of Halsway Hill.
Ollie and Ella had the idea of making Christmas reindeer from logs which were sold from Ella’s family’s shop, Alcombe Pet Centre.
After they were advertised on Facebook, the entire stock went in three days.
Helen said: “We are doing all we can to stop other families having to experience the ongoing pain of losing a loved one, especially a child.
“We are so grateful to Ella and Ollie for thinking of us, and for their great fundraising.”
The money will be used to finance a ‘choice and consequence’ go-karting course at Cheddar.
