Old cine film footage of Stogumber captured by Barbara Trundle in 1956 will be screened in the White Horse skittle alley on Wednesday, November 17.
Barbara was a midwife and community nurse in the Stogumber area and was always out with her cine camera, filming villagers as they left the local shops and visited the church.
The footage shows the village policeman on his motorbike, Dr Meyers outside the Stogumber surgery, parents watching their children dancing round the maypole, morris men and the winter hunt meet in the square. The footage also includes views from the top of the church tower, shots of hedge-cutting, heavy snowfall and much more.
The films have been enhanced, copied onto DVD and authentic sound effects added, all by Julian Bishop at Video-Trax production.
The screening lasts about 30 minutes and will be shown on a loop in the skittle alley.
Julian is also offering the opportunity for villagers with Stogumber memories to be interviewed on film that evening to help create a bigger village archive.
The screenings start at 7.30pm.
