FIRE crews rescued a dog after an ‘out of control’ fire spread to a bungalow in Bridgwater.

Crews from Bridgwater, Taunton and Burnham-on-Sea attended the incident after flames spread from a garden to a conservatory attached to the rear of the property.

A number of concerned neighbours raised the alarm shortly before 12pm today (Thursday, December 19).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said in an incident log: “Fire control received a call reporting an out of control fire in a garden and mobilised one appliance from Bridgwater.

“Subsequent calls were quickly received reporting that a property was now involved, so a further two appliances were mobilised from Taunton and Burnham-on-Sea.”

Firefighters found smoke pouring from a conservatory attached to the rear of the bungalow upon arrival and various hoses and breathing apparatus were used while tackling the flames.

The log added: “One dog rescued from property, crews at work outside dealing with hot spots. Crews confirmed that only one further appliance was required to attend and Burnham-on-Sea were stood down.”

The fire service confirmed the cause of the fire was accidental.
