A VISIT from her son and daughter-in-law kicked off the 101st birthday celebrations for Wyndham House resident Doreen Fleetwood.
In the afternoon she was treated to a special birthday party by staff and fellow residents at Wyndham, which was also attended by Heather Strawbridge, a non-executive director at the home’s parent company Somerset Care.
And the company’s operations manager Diane Allen was on hand to present Doreen with a bouquet of flowers to mark her milestone birthday, and Dave Milton popped in to sing and entertain.
Doreen was born in South Wales on July 29 1914 and moved to Kent to become a children’s nanny before moving nearer to London to work in a shop.
She met her husband in 1940 in London where he worked as a civil servant and they married soon after.
The couple moved to Somerset when they retired.
Doreen said she had had a fabulous birthday and added: “I cannot thank everybody enough for making my day so special.
“I feel truly spoilt, everybody enjoyed themselves and it was a lovely party.”
