Dunster by Candlelight was cancelled this year – but the village remains very much open for the festive period thanks to a small group of volunteers,

To help Dunster’s independent shops, eateries, inns and accommodation providers enjoy a bumper Christmas, the group has come together to bring creative cheer to the windows of the medieval village – and support a local charity.

Sue Ashton, from Number29 women’s clothes shop, is encouraging her fellow traders to decorate their festive windows for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Each window will then be photographed and promoted on the Discover Dunster digital platforms for thousands of people to experience – all around the world!

Each business has been asked to donate a minimum of £5 to Sue’s chosen local charity, St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice, which will be presented before Christmas.

The festive windows will complement the illuminated trees throughout the village provided by the Dunster Recovery Group, as well as the main village tree on the High Street junction with Castle Hill.
