WATCHET Community Cinema has announced The Last Wave will be shown on Friday, September 22.

The film is a 1977 Australian mystery drama directed by Peter Weir and starring Richard Chamberlain of Doctor Kildare fame.

A white business lawyer in Sydney, David Burton, has his seemingly normal life disrupted when he is given the pro bono assignment of defending five Aboriginals accused of the murder of another tribesman. None of his clients are willing to speak about what happened, even in their own defence, and the medical examiner on the case cannot work out how the victim died.

Burton then discovers that he shares a strange, mystical connection with them and finds himself enacting a predestined role in an ancient and terrible prophecy. This film is being shown at Watchet Community Cinema, Knights Templar School, Watchet TA23 0EX in collaboration with Watchet’s Australian (New Wave) film society who are laying on Australian-themed nibbles and music to be enjoyed before the screening.

Doors open for these and other refreshments at 6.30pm and the film starts at 7pm. Tickets cost £4 which are available on the door. For more information please call Anne on 07557 734795.
