BUTLIN’S staff in Minehead raised £64,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital last year as the resort celebrates a ‘decade of difference’ after being the charity’s official partner since 2015.
The grand total raised by Butlin’s in 2024 was £231,000, a record-breaking year of fundraising. This amount goes somewhere towards the £1m fundraising target which isset for 2028.
Minehead’s team members hosted auctions of signed guitars, featuring signatures from Butlin’s Big Weekenders’ headline artists, including A1, Blue and Artful Dodger. More than £10,000 was raised through these auctions for the one-of-a-kind memorabilia as the holiday park helps the charity towards realising a new world-leading cancer centre.
Four individuals from the Somerset resort took part in the Three Peaks Challenge, alongside teams from across Butlin’s. The 24-hour challenge involved climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden, the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. The total distance walked was 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent was 3,064 metres (10,052ft), with more than £22,000 raised by the team.
Craig Goodwin, resort director at Butlin’s Minehead, said: “It was great to see the Minehead team come together to organise some amazing fundraising events and activities throughout last year for Great Ormond Street Hospital.”
