WINNER of this year’s Oscar for Best International Feature Film, I’m Still Here will be screened at the Regal Theatre on Tuesday, April 8 at 7.30pm.
Walter Salles’s film tells the real-life story of a Brazilian family torn apart by military rule in the early 1970s. Rubens Paiva, a former congressman and outspoken critic of Brazil's military dictatorship, was taken from his home in Rio de Janeiro by government officials one afternoon and disappeared.
Adapted from his son Marcelo Rubens Paiva's memoir, I'm Still Here is exhilarating in its portrayal of human tenacity in the face of injustice.
Tickets for the subtitled film cost £6, or £4 for members and concessions, and may be booked in advance online and at the Regal box office by calling 01643 706430.
