EQUIPMENT used by the Exmoor Rangers has been upgraded as part of the celebrations to mark the National Park’s 70th birthday.
As part of the National Park’s anniversary, the Ranger Team is now equipped with the latest range of zero-plastic outdoor kit from Woolf, a company based on the Somerset and Devon border.
The Exmoor rangers have traded in their traditional synthetic fleeces for new Woolf PureFleece® Jackets made from 100 per cent merino lambs wool, which bring improved warmth, breathability, and sustainability.
As Exmoor National Park gears up to commemorate its 70th anniversary this year, a renewed focus on sustainability and conservation is at the forefront.
The National Park Authority is undertaking ambitious projects to enhance woodland, restore wetlands, improve river quality, and collaborate with local farmers to implement innovative land management practices.
Dan James, from the Exmoor National Park Authority, expressed his excitement about the collaboration with Woolf.
He said: “As the first National Park to gain ‘plastic free’ status their natural product fits our ethos well. In the last few months our rangers have been road testing the fleeces and have fallen in love with them for their warmth, durability and looks.
David Henderson, founder of Woolf, said: "Exmoor is a truly stunning and often wild landscape, making it the perfect testing ground for our natural merino wool jackets.
“We are honoured to support the National Park Ranger Team in their preservation efforts by contributing £1 from each fleece sold to the CareMoor for Exmoor campaign."
