THE Hairy Dog pub in Minehead has taken its name to another level by winning an accolade for the attention it gives its four-legged customers.
It has been named as one of the five most dog-friendly pubs in the UK.
As Britain is known as a nation of dog lovers, Groubook, the UK’s first dedicated platform for group bookings, decided to research and reveal some of the most dog-friendly restaurants in the country.
The Hairy Dog is listed along with the Egerton House Hotel and Gaucho in London, Rick Stein’s Fistral in Newquay and Hall & Woodhouse, Bath,
About the Hairy Dog, the judges said: “The name alone gives it away that this place is super dog-friendly.
“This award-winning, dog-friendly pub offers tasty dog treats that are sometimes hiding behind the bar! Just ask the staff.”
A spokesman for Groubook said: “With the uncertainty of Brexit and Covid-19, it’s been a tough year for the hospitality industry, and the future of the industry is less known.
“For restaurants and customers, the focus needs to be on enjoying socialising again in a safe way, and what better way than with your pets, who are, of course, part of the family.
“It’s not uncommon for restaurants to offer a gourmet menu not only for humans but for hungry hounds too.
“So we’ve searched across the UK to find a selection of the best dog-friendly pubs and restaurants around. We have chosen places where the staff really love dogs and want to create an experience for their doggy customers.”
