WATCHET holiday park could become a development of 43 homes under a scheme unveiled this week. Ros and Brodie McIntyre have run the Lorna Doone site in West Street for the past three years. But although business has been booming, the couple have decided to test the water with outline plans to build 11 homes and 32 flats with garages, parking and a new access road from West Street. Under a policy adopted by West Somerset District Council, the planning authority, around eight of the proposed homes would have to be affordable either for rent or sale to local people. Mr and Mrs McIntyre have run the 29-caravan holiday park for the past three years but are hoping to return to Devon where they lived before coming to West Somerset. Mrs McIntyre said: "Business is wonderful at the moment, but we have just decided we want to move on elsewhere. "We will probably be looking for a similar business." She said Watchet was well served by holiday parks with one opposite the Lorna Doone and another two close by.
