THE sun shone when pupils from Watchet’s Knights Templar First School put their sporting talents to the test.
The young athletes were put through their paces at their annual sports day but it wasn’t all about winning.
The morning’s activities focused on ‘buddy’ games in which teams made up of all ages helped each other in a range of races.
But events in the afternoon took a more traditional twist, with races from skipping to egg and spoon on the timetable, as well as the popular long distance run.
And parents also had the chance to show off their sporting abilities, with men’s and women’s races staged against a background of noisy cheering.
The grand finale of the day was a display of country dancing by all classes.
Headteacher Frances Burns said: “It was great to see all ages enjoying the day, with the year four ‘buddy’ leaders doing an amazing job of encouraging and supporting their teams.”
