CHEDDAR scampered a leg bye off the last over to gain an exciting one wicket win over Minehead in Division Two of the Somerset League.
In a remarkably low scoring match Minehead, batting first, scored 126-7 off their 45 overs, mainly due to 39 runs being scored in six overs in the middle of the innings by Stuart Tudball (21) and Geoff Murrell, who was finally bowled just two runs short of his fifty.
In reply, Cheddar also found runs hard to get as Dave Hurley bowled seven maidens in his first eight overs and eventually finished his 15 overs with 2-21.
Archie Frost, with 31, kept the scoreboard ticking, but when Ted Murrell took over from Dave Hurley for the 31st over he quickly took two wickets which reduced Cheddar to 75-6. From then on it was anyone's game but the flashing bat of John Tullett (32) managed to see Cheddar scrape home in the last over.
Minehead: 126-7 (G Murrell 48, S Tudball 21, J Tullett 3-27, C Moore 2-18).
Cheddar: 127-9 (A Frost 31, J Tullett 32, A Murrell 3-36, D Hurley 2-21, M Hurley 2-48).
