Singer songwriter Kiera Alice Chard is set to release her debut single, and will be filming her music video across Wellington and West Somerset.

Kiera is a Rockwell Green local who grew up in the area, attending Rockwell Green primary school and later Court Fields. Her first ever performance was in a production of Jack and the Beanstalk put on at the Wellesley cinema in 2008.

Her vocation has since taken her around the country, and even the world. After graduating with a degree in musical theatre in 2017, Kiera got her first job at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the Pinecone Penguin Performance Company.

Kiera has travelled to Los Angeles to collaborate with American artists for a transatlantic dance collaboration, as well as working for the BBC, ITV, Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Now Kiera is set to release her debut single, and is looking for extras to join her filming the music video locally. She said: "I recorded at Orchard Studios which is near Glastonbury. It was amazing. My producer Joe Marsh is the best person ever. My first single will be coming out this Summer, and that’s called Virtually Addicted, and hopefully another one around Christmas time.

"The music video will be set in the 80s, the first element will be filmed at Wellington Arts Centre on Friday March 24 from 5pm to 7pm. We’re doing a roller disco. I’ve invited the Somerset Skaters group to come along and we’re going to cleverly use filming to make it look like it’s in the 80s.

The idea is that I am still in the 21st century and I am so absorbed by social media that I don’t realise my surroundings have gone back to the 80s. The song is quite 80s synth-like. We’re hoping to use the Wellesley theatre as well, and some more locations that are in Minehead because we want an arcade which is classic 80s."

If Kiera manages to bag a filming slot at the Wellesley she'll be looking for 50 to 60 people to feature as extras, filling out the cinema seats. She said: "The more the merrier really, I need to fill the Wellesley if I can because it’s hopefully going to look like people are watching a show. A good 50 or 60 people would be amazing."

Filming is also set to take place in a Minehead arcade, with the retro gaming cabinets to serve as a suitably 80s backdrop.

Virtually Addicted will be available on Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube. You can follow Kiera on Youtube and Instagram @monskiwi and on Facebook @singerkiera.
