A man has successfully proposed to his now fiancé at the newly reopened Minehead Kiosk.

The Minehead Beach Kiosk had been due to reopen on Saturday February 11, but after an impromptu special request by Ryan from Barnstaple, it opened a day earlier.

Ryan had visited the beach with his partner Charlotte. After Charlotte agreed to marry him, Ryan spotted Mr Clive Sweet, a local businessman who owns the kiosk.

Clive was working to prepare the kiosk to open the following day when Ryan asked if he could open it for them, and Clive obliged. The couple were pictured enjoying ice creams from the seaside spot.

A spokesperson for the kiosk told the Wellington Weekly: "Clive has a property portfolio that supports several key business in town, all of which are successful. The kiosk is a new interest and challenge for him. He loves to create and develop successful outcomes."

Clive has owned the kiosk for three years, and over the Winter period has carried out major renovations. These include new electrics, coffee machines and a new kitchen.

The business offers hot food, ice cream, refreshments, and a deck chair hiring service. The new menu includes Cornish pasties, American hot dogs and gelato ice cream.

The business 'plays it by ear' with opening times, as footfall is dependent on the weather. Minehead residents and visitors should keep an eye out on sunny days for the freshly refurbed kiosk.
