THIS year, Minehead Climate Fair is taking place at the Avenue Methodist Church Hall on Saturday, September 28, from 2pm to 5pm.
The event, free and open to all, will feature over 20 local organisations offering a variety of activities.
Visitors can enjoy family-friendly fun, with stalls, informative talks, live music, and homemade refreshments. Highlights include the National Trust’s virtual beaver tour, showing how beavers are transforming wetlands, advice on cutting home energy costs and renewable investments, and a plant-swap stall with seeds, bulbs, and plants.
Local experts will be on hand to discuss topics such as tree management, flood resilience, and sustainable transport. Attendees can also provide feedback on the Act to Adapt team’s draft Climate Adaptation Plan for Minehead, making this event a great opportunity for community engagement and climate action.
West Somerset Green Forum’s, Elizabeth Atkinson, said: “The Fair has grown beyond my wildest expectations” Elizabeth, who is coordinating the event, continued: “There has been a huge response from people keen to be involved, and everyone has warmed to the positive theme.
“This is not about gloom and doom: it’s about feeling good about the small things we can do to make life better for ourselves and the planet, and the support available to help us to do them. It’s going to be a really fun event for everyone.”
