STAFF at a Minehead nursery are celebrating after education watchdogs judged it as ‘good’ in all areas.
Ofsted visited King Edward Road Nursery and published its report which judged the nursery to be good in four main areas; quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.
The inspector visited on Tuesday, July 2, and experienced a “busy and fun-filled day” at the nursery, which is run by Beacon Education.
During the day she talked to children, parents and staff and found that the nursery’s well-qualified and experienced staff have a secure understanding of how to engage with the children while they learn through play.
Children behave very well, they settle quickly into nursery life, make secure bonds and feel safe at nursery, the inspector noted.
The manager and management team are deemed to have a good oversight of what works well in the nursery, they evaluate practice consistently and establish accurate improvement plans to improve outcomes for children.
The curriculum was also acknowledged as being well-designed, offering children a good balance of experiences across all areas of learning, as well as carefully considering those who need additional support.
Shelley Hooper, nursery manager, said: “We are very happy with the outcome of the Inspection. The children welcomed our visitor and where happy to share their nursery experiences with her. Parents were happy to share their positive experiences with the Inspector as well. The Good judgment reflects the hard work of our whole staff team, I am very proud of them.”
Trudy Dandy, chief executive officer of the trust, said: "The report is a clear reflection of the hard work and dedication of the entire nursery staff. Congratulations to Shelley and her team and thanks to all our trustees, parents and carers for their continuing support of the nursery.”
To further improve the quality of the early years provision, Ofsted suggested the provider should review the organisation of group times to ensure children remain engaged in their learning. It also advised the nursery support staff further to embed the nursery's strategies to support children's communication and language skills even further.
