RESIDENTS in Minehead gathered to celebrate HRH King Charles’ birthday in style at Specsavers on The Avenue.

The shop joined the nationwide festivities by donning crowns, displaying flags, and offering refreshments.

Rebecca Howe, the store manager, said: “The King’s birthday was a big event, and we wanted to get into the patriotic spirit. Everyone who visited had a great time.”

The event included colouring sheets for children and an abundance of sweets, which ran out by the end of the day. Mrs Howe expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated, saying their involvement made the celebrations a success.

Meanwhile, in London, the Red Arrows performed a flypast, and HRH King Charles III continued the Trooping the Colour tradition, dating back to 1748.

The team at Minehead Specsavers thoroughly enjoyed the day, which included meeting and talking with customers and the public.
