NEARLY 100 modern and historic cars took part in the 31st Keith Hole Memorial Classic Exmoor Tour.

Organised by Minehead Motor Club on Sunday, August 18, the vehicles followed an 80-mile route through some the most remote parts of the moor.

Held in memory of the late club chairman who first organised the event, the non-competitive tour started at Allerford & Selworthy Community Hall where volunteers provided a bacon roll breakfast for participants, who later returned to the hall for a cream tea and hunted for bargains at a specialist car boot sale.

A spokesperson for the club said: “People were saying it was one of the best tours yet and we are grateful to everyone, particularly the village hall volunteers, who made it such a success.”

After the event, drivers went online to say how much they enjoyed their day on the moor.

Chris Reeson said: “A huge thanks to the organisers. Super route, proving that we don't know Exmoor as well as we thought. I love the diversity of vehicles - anything goes”.

Pete Laramy said: “Had a great day, until we boiled. Thank you to everyone who stopped to offer help. We got home safely under our own steam.”

Roger Grant added: “Thank you to everyone who organised the Exmoor Tour. We had a great day.” He said the route and food were both excellent.
