The League of Friends of Minehead Hospital has funded the purchase of a reconditioned piano for Exmoor Ward at Minehead Hospital. The organisation says this is the latest purchase to help patients have an enjoyable time whilst staying in the hospital.
Of the 19 patients on the ward one or two learnt to play the piano as youngsters and can often remember many of the tunes they learnt all those years ago. The Hospital also celebrates the major festivals of Easter, Harvest, Armistice Day and Christmas and the piano will be well used for those events.
One of the hospital volunteers occasionally provides musical entertainment of songs and other items from years ago to stimulate the patients and help make their stay much more pleasurable.
Senior Ward Sister, Hayley Welsh, said: “I am so pleased to have the addition of the piano to the facilities available to patients. The League of Friends is a great organisation helping to provide equipment and support for our patients during their stay with us.”
