Police have appealed for information after a cricket club on the Quantock hills was burgled.

An unknown number of criminals broke into the Holford Cricket Club overnight between Wednesday April 19 and Thursday April 20, before making off with power tools and garden equipment.

The club captain said the thieves had caused extensive damage to the building and stolen important equipment.

Appealing for information, a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Offender(s) have caused damage at Holford Cricket Club near Bridgwater and stole a quantity of power tools and garden equipment from a container.

“The incident happened overnight between Wednesday 19 April and Thursday 20 April. An officer attended the club as part of our enquiries 

“If you have information about this incident, or know who may be involved, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5223091819.”

The break-in comes after a burglary of a separate cricket club in the nearby area in March.

The Bridgwater Cricket Club on Durleigh Road was burgled overnight between Wednesday March 15 and Thursday March 16, between 10pm and 8am.

An unknown number of thieves stole a red quad bike, bolt cutters and keys, before damaging a fence as they fled the scene.

Police pledged to step up their presence in the area following the theft, and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
