POP star Olly Murs took time off touring to surprise fans at a children's charity in Bridgwater.

The 'Dance With Me Tonight' singer visited kids at Brainwave, in Huntworth, in the middle of a huge tour with Take That.

The star has been a patron of the charity for the past 13 years and has now had the chance to meet the children who he has been supporting.

Brainwave is a charity that exists to help children with disabilities achieve greater independence by aiming to improve their mobility, communication skills and learning potential through a range of specialist therapies.

The organisation supports children with a range of conditions including autism, cerebral palsy and genetic disorders such as Down’s syndrome.

A representative from the charity said Olly was "absolutely wonderful with all the children and told us all about his joy of becoming a dad."

The 40-year-old popstar welcomed his first child with wife Amelia in April this year - a daughter called Madison.

Keith Sinclair, CEO of Brainwave, added: "It is great having Olly Murs as part of our Brainwave family, his support is invaluable and recent visit a resounding success.

"It has significantly boosted awareness of the vital work we do and the challenges we, and the families we help, face.

"Unlike many other charities, Brainwave receives no statutory funding from the NHS or Social Care. Every penny we raise comes from fundraising and our charity shops.

"We need to generate over £2 million annually to sustain our vital services, with each child's support costing £4,000 per year.

"If you feel inspired by what we do, please contribute in any way you can — whether through donating, nominating us as your charity of the year, or simply spreading the word.

"Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference."

Do you share in our passion and ambition to deliver high quality, compassionate and ‘life changing’ therapies to ‘unlock’ the potential of disabled children?

Brainwave would like to hear from anyone interested in helping to provide life-changing therapies for disabled children and their families.

The charity has a number of vacancies and people interested in volunteering should visit voluntary opportunities page.
