A BANNED car driver was given a prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, when they appeared before Taunton Deane magistrates following a West Somerset crash-and-run incident.
The incident happened last month after police stopped a blue BMW near Dragons Cross, Washford.

The driver made off but then collided with a Range Rover in a narrow lane, causing injuries to themself and their passenger.
Before details could be exchanged, the BMW driver left the scene and abandoned the vehicle in a nearby field entrance.
The motorist was identified with the help of witness accounts and CCTV.
They were also given a further 18-month driving ban, and ordered to pay more than £2,000 in fines and costs.
