PUPILS in schools and colleges across West Somerset are celebrating today after receiving their eagerly awaited GCSE results.
West Somerset College, in Minehead, was proud to announce a strong set of GCSE results this year, reflecting the hard work and dedication of its students.
The college achieved an impressive number of top grades, with students securing 31 grade 9s, 41 grade 8s, 100 grade 7s, and 155 grade 6s.
The college is on a rapid path of improvement, with every key performance measure showing progress compared to last year’s results.
Comparing GSCE improvements from between 2023 to 2024, the collage saw some great increases:

This success highlights the exceptional efforts of West Somerset College's pupils, whose hard work has truly paid off. However, the achievements are not only the result of their dedication.

Meanwhile, at Kingsmead School in Wiveliscombe, pupils are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE results.
The school has once again achieved impressive academic success, reflecting the hard work and dedication of both pupils and staff the past school year.
The school saw improvements in English, maths, and science grades, with an increase in both the overall pass rate and the percentage of top grades (9-7).
There was also a rise in the number of students achieving the English Baccalaureate qualifications. Notably, 75% of subjects showed better academic outcomes compared to 2023.
John Eddy, headteacher at Kingsmead School, said: “This is a real testament to both the efforts of the students and their teachers. We are looking forward to celebrating the success of the students when they collect their results later this morning.”
