WEST Somerset College welcomed Dr Alice Roberts – TV presenter, author, and university professor – to its campus to speak to students and pupils from schools across the Bridgwater and Taunton College (BTC) Trust.
Dr Roberts spoke passionately about human history and the inspiration she obtained from archaeology and anthropology to write her new novel Wolf Road.
She interweaved stories from human history with insights into her own career journey, which began as a trainee medical doctor and currently resides on TV sets.
Students and staff were thrilled to host Dr Roberts, who also showed images and artwork produced by Keith Robinson and Tom Bjorkland that brought the lives of our ancestors to life.
BTC Trust has launched its ASPIRE programme across its four secondary schools – Bridgwater College Academy, Brymore Academy, Stanchester Academy, and West Somerset College.
This programme is tailored to students seeking higher education, and aims to inspire and challenge intellectual curiosity.
Head of careers and personal development at BTC Trust, Clare Lewis, said: “We are so delighted to have someone of Alice’s calibre talk to students at West Somerset College and others within the trust.
“Her talk was truly fascinating and the questions from the students to Alice show how truly inquisitive our young people are.”
