The RSPCA received 376 reports from residents in Somerset relating to baby birds between January 1, 2021, to March 31 this year.
May and June represent peak ‘baby bird’ season in the UK and collectively across the country the RSPCA has taken close to 19,000 calls from the start of 2021.
The RSPCA is advises people visit to their website for advice on baby birds, but will still make themselves available over the phone for advice.
RSPCA scientific officer Rebecca Machin said: “It’s wonderful that so many people want to do their best for our wild birds, particularly if a baby bird has been found out of its nest.”
“And it’s great that tens of thousands of people are following our online guidance on how to help - rather than calling us - as this is usually the best and fastest way to help them.”
