SOMERSET Council will mark the fifth anniversary of the Covid-19 pandemic by participating in a ‘Day of Reflection’.

Taking place on March 9, the occasion serves as a reminder of the pandemic’s impact on local communities, while also recognising the extraordinary efforts of those who worked to protect others.

Shelagh Meldrum, chief nursing officer and director of operations at NHS Somerset, said: "We would like to ask everyone in Somerset to take a moment on Sunday, March 9, to reflect and remember. Whether by lighting a candle, sharing stories, or simply offering a kind word to someone who has been impacted.

“I know from first-hand experience the impact the pandemic had on our healthcare colleagues as well as our wider communities. It was a time none of us will forget.”
