MP for Taunton and Wellington, Gideon Amos, has announced his three New Year’s resolutions to support local communities.
Mr Amos says he hopes to secure a development timeline for the prospective Wellington Station, which could ultimately reinforce another of his goals to bring investment to the two towns.
Wellington councillors have been told to wait until Spring to expect an update on the future of the local station.
The local MP also aims to redouble his campaign for a new paediatric and maternity unit at Musgrove Park Hospital in order to provide “urgent” staff facilities.
Liberal Democrat party leader, Sir Ed Davey, celebrated “the biggest Liberal force in the House of Commons for 100 years” in his New Year’s message.
Sir Davey emphasised numerous remaining issues to be tackled by politicians in the year to come, facing additional “instability and insecurity all made worse by Donald Trump’s victory in November.”
