AN HISTORIC pub is reopening after a recovering from a major fire.
The Kings Arms pub in Taunton will once again be opening its doors to customers after a blaze which ripped through the building forced it shut for almost three months.
Fire crews from Wellington and Wiveliscombe raced to tackle the blaze in May, which engulfed the pub less than a year after £400,000 was spent on renovation works.
But the pub has now been restored, with a restyled interior and a revamped bar. Commenting on the relaunch the pub's general manager Sean Phillips said:
"I cannot wait to get the doors open again and welcome back everyone back to our brilliant pub. We have a great offering and so much going on, it will be great to be back serving you all and creating memories in our community hub. We hope to see as many of you as possible for drinks, food and some fun."
To celebrate the pub has lined up a series of entertainments including quiz nights, karaoke and live music. Local band Hazy Days will be performing live on Friday night, August 25. Sean said:
“Having the Hazy Days come to a play at the pub will be great, we are so excited to have a sing and dance with you all. I cannot wait to see what this new chapter for the pub holds and am thrilled to be doing it with you all.”
The pub will officially reopen its doors on Monday, August 21.
