Visitors and residents in Porlock tomorrow (Saturday) are being encouraged to indulge in a little retail therapy to support traders following lockdown.
Following the great success of previous pop-ups, the ‘retail therapy’ event is inviting locals and visitors to ‘delve deeper’ to discover what local shops have to offer.
It runs from noon to 4pm and is the fifth in a series of events organised by Porlock High Street Support Group.
Many traders are offering demonstrations, discounts or a gift with a purchase.
Artist Jonathan Walker, who currently has an exhibition at Porlock’s Churchgate Gallery, will be painting on the premises during the event.
There will also be some stalls by local artists, crafters and new entrepreneurs, such as Joanne Morton, The Garden Companion, who has set up a business offering gardening and companionship simultaneously.
As usual, surprises will be hidden in plain sight along the High Street, including an appearance by the Watchet Folk Group.
Porlock High Street Support Group chairman Duncan McCanlis said: “These regular pop-ups have resulted in the village having a noticeably busier and joyful High Street.
“The support group is now focused on helping traders work together, so that Porlock shows itself off to best effect over the coming months and years.”
The pop-up series is funded by Somerset West and Taunton Council and the EU Welcome Back Fund.
