Two sixth form students from Minehead have received offers from one of the country's most prestigious university. Year 13 students at West Somerset College Sixth Form, Kez and Isaac have all gained offers from Oxford, after a rigorous and highly competitive selection processes.

Both students have been offered places on their chosen courses; Kez to study Biochemistry at Exeter College and Isaac to take up Geography at Brasenose College.

Sally Scyner, Head of Year 12 and Year 13, said she was proud of all pupils for the offers they have received.

She said: "It’s a privilege to work with a cohort of such talented and hardworking students at West Somerset College Sixth Form and both of these applicants deserves their success,” she added.

Rachel Wellfair-Priest, incoming Assistant Headteacher responsible for Sixth Form, added “whilst we offer specialised support along with a specific OVMD (Oxbridge, Veterinary, Medical and Dental) support group for students undertaking these applications, these offers are also down to the hard work and commitment of the students.

"We are really looking forward to hearing about their future successes. We are ambitious for all our students in their future studies and careers.”

In the coming weeks, the college will be running an 'Aim Higher' event for potential future Oxbridge applicants, including a live virtual presentation from the University of Cambridge.
