TWO men are due in court next week to be sentenced for killing Wiveliscombe man Jason Lock earlier this year.
Mr Lock, 56, was attacked near his home in Stockers Close during the evening of May 17 and died without regaining consciousness two days later in Southmead Hospital, Bristol.
Daniel Bond, 34, of Mandarin Hotel, Weston-super-Mare, and Lee Conlon, 37, of Claremont Crescent, Weston-super-Mare, were initially charged with murdering Mr Lock.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed this week that it had accepted pleas of guilty to manslaughter which the pair gave when they last appeared in court in June via a video link.
Now, they are due to appear in Bristol Crown Court on November 4 to be sentenced. They were originally due for sentencing in September but it was delayed by the barristers’ strike.
Both men are currently remanded in custody.
Mr Lock, who had worked for more than 25 years in Wiveliscombe for EPS Services and Tooling, was described by family members as a ‘loving, caring, family man’. He had been with his fiancée Mandy Lockyer for 16 years, who paid tribute to Mr Lock, saying he was ‘a loving fiancé and brother and a doting granddad’.
Specially-trained officers have been supporting the family.
