A BRIDLEWAY in the parish of Withypool and Hawkridge that was partly destroyed in floods on Christmas Eve 2012 has now been re-routed.

The flood caused a landslip along 40 metres of the bridleway on the western bank of the River Barle at Worth Wood, making the legally recorded route impassable.

It has been closed ever since – but, in past few weeks, a new route has been created further up the slope from the river.

Exmoor National Park Authority confirmed the Public Path Order to divert the bridleway (DU10/38) onto the new route.

Dan Barnett, national park access and recreation manager, said: “It’s taken a while to find the best way of tackling this issue."
