MINEHEAD Barbarians Rugby Club’s Under 9s travelled to Weston on Sunday to play their first game of contact rugby.

Due to the large numbers both squads had to be split into two and played two twenty minute games.

All the Minehead players made the transition well from tag to contact and that’s down to the hard work of coaches Oli Butterworth, Steve Holland and Rob Bradshaw.

Players of the week could have gone to any number but the coaches focussed on tackling and chose the following for the way they displayed the right techniques and determination in defence: Barbarian of the week Tom Tilley; Gladiator of the week Noah Cox.
