IT’S been another busy week for Minehead Bowling Club.
A friendly was played away at Lynton & Lynmouth on Tuesday, June 18, outdoor and an indoor triples friendly against Taunton Deane indoor on the 24th; the latter winning by seven shots.
On Thursday, June 20, both the A & B teams played at Taunton Deane in the West Somerset League. The A team played Taunton A and while winning on two rinks lost overall by just three shots. The B team played the C team and lost on all rinks.
On Saturday, June 22, the club held the Mixed Triples Championship. The 12 teams played three games of 55 minutes or to a maximum of eight ends in two mini leagues.
The winners of each league went through and played the final. The finalists this year were Shirley Matthews, Helen Blackmore and Colin Hirons, and Nick Swan, Sheila Cooper and Paul Vickery, with Nick, Sheila and Paul lifting the trophy to become the club triples champions.
Well done to all entrants and to all those who helped ensure the event was successful, especially to the club’s competition’s secretary, Rob Ware.
On Monday, June 24, one of the ladies teams had a significant win against Williton in the Evelyn Yandle while the other team lost to Watchet. While the men won away on both rinks by 10 shots against Watchet, in the Men’s Jack Stevens; the two at home lost by five. Therefore, a win overall by five.
