STOGUMBER will be looking to end the summer unbeaten in Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League when they play away to fifth-placed Wiveliscombe on Saturday, August 10.

Stogumber go into the match with an 88-point lead over second-placed Sampford Arundel - and have already made sure of winning the title.

In their latest match they beat Fitzhead by eight wickets away, the result never being in doubt after the home side were dismissed for 146.

Batting first, Fitzhead struggled to make runs with only Sam Gregson-Brown comfortable when scoring 56. Peter Horton was Stogumber’s most successful bowler with 4-25, while Alastair Benham took 2-28 and Zak Rexworthy 2-20.

Stogumber knocked off the runs in just over 19 overs with Elias Hayes hitting 76 and Ben Rexworthy 52 not out. It was Stogumber’s 11th win in 13 matches.

In the only other game played in the division, Minehead 3rd XI gained a six-wicket home win over Wiveliscombe who, batting first, scored 210-9 with Robin Stutt-Hannaford scoring 60 retired, Warren Heyns 29, Charlie Thorne 24 not out and Ian Pincombe 22 not out.

In reply Minehead reached their target in 35 overs, with Renjeesh Krishnan hitting 97, Adrian Priddle 42 and Jithin Rajan 28 not out.
