MINEHEAD Seconds hosted their North Perrott counterparts in Somerset League Division Three and, at the end of the match, it was the hosts who ran out the winners by five wickets.
After being asked to bat first the visitors were given a good start by openers Ollie Frost and Will Frost who put on 47 before the former was out for 22. James David then claimed two further wickets quickly before Joshua Marshall-James came to the wicket and helped the score onto 93 before Will Frost departed for 41, caught by ‘keeper Jonah Hopkins off the bowling of Anan Rajan.
Marshall-James remained until the end of the innings by which time he was unbeaten on 91 from 75 balls, and the score had moved onto 210 for six. Davis was the pick of the bowlers with three for 23.
When Minehead replied they found themselves 38 for three before Oli Ahern and Gary Bennett added 87 together before Bennett was out for 38. Ahern and James Davis then stayed together to see Minehead to 211 for five in 36.4 overs, by which time Davis was unbeaten on 24, while Ahern finished not out 87, his best so far which came off 92 balls and included 11 fours.
