ALFIE Ogborne has signed a contract extension that will see him remain with Somerset until at least the end of the 2026 season.

The 21-year-old played his way through the Somerset Age Group system and was a part of the Club’s Emerging Player Programme before joining the Potential Somerset Player Programme in the winter of 2020.

Alfie grew up playing his early cricket in Sparkford where he attended Ansford Academy and Richard Huish. He then played for North Perrott as well as representing Dorset before joining WEPL side Bridgwater CC.

At Bridgwater, the left-arm seamer produced a number of impressive performances and was called up to play for Somerset Second XI in 2021.

Alfie made his full Somerset List A debut against Durham in the Royal London Cup in 2022 and went on to feature in a total of five matches in that year’s competition, claiming a best of three for 49 against Leicestershire.

He also featured in Somerset’s County Championship fixture against Hampshire at the Cooper Associates County Ground last summer, taking three for 89 in the match.

After signing his extension, Alfie said: “I’m very excited because Somerset is my childhood club. It’s a special place for me and my family and I’ve got so many good memories of watching and playing here already.”
