FITZHEAD, struggling at the bottom of the third division in the West Somerset Cricket League and facing almost certain relegation, have a tough home game against leaders Stogumber this weekend (August 3).

Fitzhead, who conceded their match against Cannington last weekend because they could not raise a side, are 28 points adrift at the bottom of the table whereas Stogumber are 63 points clear at the top and assured of promotion.

In the only other game to be played in the division this weekend, Minehead entertain Wiveliscombe.

Meanwhile Sampford Arundel maintained their bid to join Stogumber in the second division last weekend with a five-wicket home win over Cutcombe.

Cutcombe, put into bat, were bowled out for 137 with only Matt Matravers (68) looking comfortable against the bowling of Archie Lyon-Tyalor (5-44) and Will Sewing's (3-10).

Sampford did not make the best of starts but were eventually steered to victory by Ed Crossley (36) and Steven Butler (51 not out).

Minehead, in third spot, won by seven wickets away to Bishops Hull who batted first and scored 164 in their 30 overs with Mark Chanter 36 not out. Minehead took only 22 overs to knock off the runs with Renjeesh Krishnan 63 not out and Athul Soman scoring 46.
