HEMYOCK maintained their position at the top of Division Four in the West Somerset Cricket League after beating Buckland St Mary and Bishopswood away by 54 runs.

The Devon side, put into bat first, lost early wickets before recovering to score 155 with John Hurley (43), Adam Welch (34) and Shish Kumar (30) being their main run-getters.

Hemyock’s bowling attack proved too good for Buckland who made 103 all out with only opener Chris Corfield (24) making any runs. Jimmy Adams took 3-18, Tom Case 3-22 and Phillip Evans 3-25.

Ashbrittle are only ten points behind Hemyock with a game in hand after they beat Stoke St Mary at home by five wickets. Stoke scored 137 all out with Marcus Walker scoring 38 while Leon Westcott took 3-17 and Boris Priscott 3-32.

Ashbrittle took less than 20 overs to reach their target with Charles Cooper hitting 42, Peter Woodbury 26 and Carl Westcott 24.

Roadwater moved up to third in the table after they won by two wickets at home to Brompton Ralph who, incredibly, lost only one wicket in scoring 197 with B Moody 58 not out and S Pettit 98 not out. K Roberts was Roadwater’s star batter with 67 while L Gould knocked 24.
