LIFE LONG Somerset supporter Mary Elworthy-Coggan will be hosting her final barbecue at her house ‘Howzat’ in Fitzhead on Friday, June 28, starting at 7pm - and what a swansong event it promises to be.
This will be the 30th barbecue Mary has hosted and over the years she has raised a huge amount of money for various beneficiaries and Somerset CCC, which has gone towards funding a new motor mower to cut the wicket and other much needed pieces of equipment.
This year’s barbecue will raise funds tor Motor Neurone Disease, The Alzheimers Society and Somerset Cricket and to help to swell the funds on the evening a number of sporting items will be auctioned, many of which money can’t buy.
Items to be auctioned include: Two Nights Bed and Breakfast for Two at Jack Nowell’s pub the Swordfish in Penzance plus dinner at the Fishermans Arms; A signed Ben Stokes England shirt; Bed and Breakfast for two at the New Inn at Halse;
Mary will be joined by the Somerset players for the evening. Entry to the BBQ is just £5 and can be paid for on the evening.
Bids on any of the items can be left in advance by calling Mary on 01823 400679.
