MINEHEAD Thirds went down by three wickets to promotion chasers Sampford Arundel in Division Three of the West Somerset Cricket League last weekend.
After being asked to bat first by their visitors Minehead, lying one place below their rivals in the table, scored 147 all out.
Their innings was based upon 66 by their opening batter Vishnu Kombath whose innings included seven fours and five sixes.
Lower in the order Darren Richards made 24 with five fours while Athul Soman remained unbeaten on 12 before the hosts were all out in 35.5 overs.
Pick of the bowlers for the visitors was Will Crossley who ended with five for 60 from his 8.5 overs.
When the visitors responded they lost three wickets cheaply, two to Jithin Rajan and the other to Renjeesh Krishnan before opener Will Lyon-Taylor was joined by Ed Crossley who went onto make 12.
Meahile, Lyon-Taylor provided the backbone of the innings and proceeded to score 87 with 16 fours before he was dismissed, bowled by Charlie Penny.
Rob Crossley not out nine and Seb Coe who was unbeaten on five then saw Sampford to victory in 35 overs.
