BRIDGETOWN Cricket Club held their Annual General Meeting at the Rest and Be Thankful at Wheddon Cross which was attended by 16 members,

William Ladds delivered his final chairman’s annual report before stepping down from the role that he has held for 37 years. The retiring chairman was thanked for all the hard work he had undertaken during his time in office and for everything that he has contributed to the club during that time.

William Ladds is only the second person to hold the post of chairman of Bridgetown CC since it was first established in 1924.

Miles Richards, the current vice chairman, was unanimously elected as the new chairman of BCC, while it was agreed that Tom Gliddon would take over as vice chairman.

Doug Sherring is to continue as president of Bridgetown CC

Ben Luxton is to continue as club captain while Paul Matravers and Dan Sizer will carry on as joint vice captains.

In an attempt to get more vice presidents it was agreed to send a letter to all local residents to try to recruit more benefactors. It was suggested that the club should hold a Vice Presidents Day.

Pete Matravers informed the AGM about the progress of the Pavilion Extension and said that the club was in discussion with English Heritage about the proposals.

It was proposed and agreed to create a fund raising committee that would consist of Pete and Carolyn Matravers, Ben Luxton and Ben Weetch.

Ben Weetch is to start an Instagram page with a view to using social media for ball and match sponsoring as well as overseeing any crowdfunding. The meeting closed at 6.30pm.
