WIVELISCOMBE remain 44 points adrift at the bottom of Division Two in the Somerset Cricket League despite gaining a ten-wicket home win over Huntspill & District.

The visitors, put into bat, struggled to 139 all out in 37.3 overs. Opener S Lillycross was top scorer with 25 while M Council hit 23. George Sinnott proved unplayable, taking 3-12, while Colin Ashworth took 2-26 and Henry Welch 2-20.

It took Wiveliscombe's openers Gareth Bellamy and Joe Welch only 21.3 overs to knock off the runs. Bellamy scored 70, which included eight fours and two sixes, while Welch made 64 with six fours and three sixes. It was only Wivelliscombe's second success of the season.

Meanwhile Ilton won the top of the table clash against Yeovil by 24 runs which means only two points now separate the two sides.

Ilton, in second spot, scored 238-7 while Yeovil were all out for 214.

In other games Taunton beat North Newton by 69 runs and Weston super Mare were seven-run winners against Broadway & Horton.

Wiveliscombe will be back in action on Saturday, July 20, when they play away to Broadway & Horton. Ilton play away to Huntspill & District while Yeovil are also away - to North Newton.
